Genesis 1: 26-30: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (29) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed,, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. (30) And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.”

Dominion is based on these verses, even though they repeat themselves over and over, which grants Christians “dominion” over everything. Dominion masquerades as a faith-based ideology, but is actually the institution of a theocracy in America. Hidden in the dogma of Dominion is a tyrannic theocracy that absolves many different freedoms we currently enjoy. There is heavy symbolism in Dominion, calling different types of needed controlled aspects of society “Mountains”. Dominionists celebrate Christian nationalism, in that they believe that the United States once was, and should once again be, a Christian nation. In this way, they deny the Enlightenment roots of American democracy. Dominionists promote religious supremacy, insofar as they generally do not respect the equality of other religions, or even other versions of Christianity. Dominionists endorse theocratic visions, insofar as they believe that the Ten Commandments, or “biblical law,” should be the foundation of American law, and that the U.S. Constitution should be seen as a vehicle for implementing Biblical principles. It was started as a reformist movement, later becoming the object of the Right Wing Christians who believe they are to have dominion over all things until Christ’s return. There are seven “Mountains” Dominionists seek to control: Business, Government, Family, Religion, Media, Education and Entertainment. Once the seven mountains are claimed, they will have dominion over all things, as described in the verses they point to in the bible.

A very real, rational, and reasonable comparison to a theocracy of Christian biblical law called Dominionism is the Islamic imposition of Shari’a law. Shari’a law, at its base, is not that much different than Christian biblical law and is equally as ridiculous and full of contradiction, cruelty, and sadistic seeming punishments. The importance of not electing an official involved in upholding the cause of Dominion (Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry are both Dominionists, even though they vigorously deny it.) and its Christian rooted laws that will be imposed once they gain control of the “Mountain of Government”. Shari’a law is based loosely on the writings of the very first Muslims as well as Qur’an Surah verses. A simple observance of countries that impose Shari’a law, as I noted in a past post, one can easily gather that living there is oppressive for many different people especially women. While Qur’an verses exist to tell a husband how to deal with a woman in the beginning of the Qur’an, there are verses that contradict “good and fair” treatment later. Not unlike the bible, which does tell women to be obedient to their husbands and to be subservient, the Shari’a law is not so different. The major difference between the Shari’a law and biblical laws involves: women being stoned to death for being raped where the bible says they must marry their rapist, women are sold and have a price in the bible where in the Shari’a law it differs drastically, and punishments of Shari’a law are usually more cruel than biblical law punishments though on an equal level various crimes are less punishable by biblical law than by Shari’a law.

The theocracy that Dominionists want will control every aspect of everyone’s life, as I explained above when listing the “Mountains”. It is very hard to tell what they are going to do to people who they feel directly violate the biblical law such as gays, lesbians, bisexuals, correctly gendered, witches, and other various and sundry “sinners” and if they will impose laws of the Old Testament or make use the set provided by “Paul the Apostle”. The information I have read on the internet at various sites after Googling it are not completely and totally agreeing as to what laws will be imposed, however, they were completely clear that Dominion is defined as an absolute state of theocracy favored by values of the evangelicals and a hefty percentage of Right Wing politics. I am considering purchasing the book “Dominion!” by C. Peter Wagner of the NAR, but deep inside I loath supporting his efforts financially by purchasing said rag. I am also completely assured that my brain may implode or I will suffer a stroke due to the contents and their idiocy. Alas, I shall not decide to purchase it and preserve my intellect while at the same time properly informing those who are looking for a presidential alternative to President Barack Obama. I encourage you to view the two links below of YouTube videos by Dominionists.
